A couple weeks ago I dismantled a piano and it was the most heart breaking yet cathartic and satisfying thing. I have 2 more pianos to take apart and dispose of. These beautiful instruments are now beyond repair, they’ve served thousands in the past three summers bringing so many smiles to so many people from locals to visitors from around the world. I’m not often proud of myself. I’m more often than not fake-proud because other people want me to be proud... but these pianos I am proud of. Not the project, but specifically the pianos as tangible definite things because they were altars of happiness. Maybe altar isn’t the right word, but I’ve been having trouble with words lately. Pillars, sigils, monoliths; I don’t know. They were semi-stationary things that I, and strangers, could go to for good feelings. Use your own words. I’ll say goodbye to two more pianos soon. In my attempt to start sanding off old paint to prep for this year I ran into half a dozen obstacles (like not having a long enough extension cord, realizing I need ear plugs and then my only light burning out) BUT obstacles made the end result worth it! Using my @comsy_pollution_mask to keep the dust out and even though I only got about 10 minutes of sanding done with my @inventor_of_the_restorer before my light burnt out- I gotta say I LOVE this tool. Niagara Falls Public Pianos is excited to announce that we are a recipient of an ASI of WNY Grant! The funds received from this incredible organization will be used to clean, refinish, repaint, repair, tune and move our seven* scheduled pianos for the 2019 summer season! \nOur pianos will be located:\n1.
