Wow! Did @julieisaacphotography ever knock it out of the park or what? Julie took my furniture painting e-course at Just Paint It! Academy and got inspired to Just Paint It! You can apply this course to pianos, kitchen and bathroom cabinets, or furniture! No more hum drum pieces lurking around, freshen them up and give them new bright life! Paint is magic, but it’s the wizard hands behind the brush and all the tasks done before and after painting that really get it looking this way and are the most important for long lasting professional results. Way to go Julie! Gold star for you!.

That one time I painted a piano...😍 This was done for an awesome customer and turned out so gorgeous! YES - I would do it again. There are a few requirements for custom piano painting including hiring professional movers, these things are just soooo heavy. Message me if you have any questions!.

Making slow but steady progress on my entry for the #furnitureflipchallenge. A couple touch ups left, a wax, and then it’s on to the matching bench. . Now before any of you yell at me about “painting a mahogany piano”, it was just a veneer, and it was wayyyy beyond saving. . My daughter picked the main colour Whisper from @houseandcanvas and I used Morning Mist and Angora as accents on the mosaic..

The big reveal!!! 🖤🎹🖤 . This vintage Baldwin upright piano looks totally different, it’s even a little hard to believe it is the same one from before! Kirsten really wanted to “update” the look of her piano so that it would be a beautiful presence in her home, rather than look bulky and outdated — because who wants that these days?! Enter: paint! We were able to fully transform this amazing piece of history with some careful TLC and quality paint and finishing products. It was all lightly sanded down, primed, and painted in this pretty colour “Rock Gray” by @benjaminmoore. I used @behrpaint + @bbfrosch transformer powder. Everything was then sealed with a stain sheen top coat for long lasting protection. The bench was reupholstered with a light and modern patterned material that looks fantastic with the piano! I can hardly wait to see how this will look in its forever home! 🖤.

What is burnishing, you ask? I had no idea a few months ago either!!! My customers and I were low key disappointed when I had to paint over the original label on this piano since this baby dates back to 1895, how cool is that?! Creative solutions came to the rescue and after scoping out so many different places locally, no one would print out a vinyl label, yet I did see this one online. Ordered it up, thought it would be peel and stick. Nope! Burnish, baby. “Wtf is burnish, Steve?!” 😂😭 Well, here’s a video to show you LIVE, going through the motions. You can bet we were feeling the heat and pressure a little bit to not mess it up!.

The color is called Heartbreaker, and that she is (in a good way) 🎹.

OMG YOU GUYS, THE PIANO IS COMPLETE! 🎉 This piano was luckily booked and brought to me a day or two before the whole covid crazy hit us in mid March. Let’s just say we had a nice big distraction to get us through the tougher times, then we waited another month (mail delays are crazy lately!) for a new logo/label that we had fun 𠇋urnishing” onto the paint yesterday. You learn a new skill every day. I loved this project, the results and the people we worked on this for. I can’t wait for Rhonda and fam to have this bright white distressed beauty from 1896 in their newly renovated living room, and proud to have any part in it 🙏🏻.

#TBT to this painted piano we did in the Spring for my customer Chelsea! What I would suggest if you are going to paint a piano -> have PATIENCE! Painting a piano is not as intimidating as it seems, trust me! Tape off places you don’t want paint on and utilize playing cards to cover keys. It’s a lot of moving parts and pianos take several days to do right. But it’s so worth it and the focal point of their living room now! We sanded the crusty old finish down until it was smooth, primed with our favorite stain blocking primer, used @bbfrosch paint transformer powder mixed with white latex paint to make our own chalk style paint (great adhesion and coverage) all sealed with clear poly. My “How to a Paint Vintage and Antique Furniture” course will show you the basics of how to paint furniture and you can apply these skills onto your own bulky piano! Link in bio!.
