For three days you can donate towards the Painted Piano Project art pieces of your choice! 100% of your donations will benefit the Public Arts Midland fund for future community art projects. The girls and I finished up our Painted Piano Project for @publicartsmidland yesterday! This was a great creative and learning experience for us all. We had to work as a team, collaborate, and compromise. I had to practice my patience and when the artist in me wanted to correct everything to perfection, the mama in me was loud enough to stop me. I always tell my kids perfect doesn’t exist and to always do your best. All the little imperfections you see were crafted with love, and were definitely the best work from my six and nine year old artists. That’s all anyone can ask for. I’m super proud they saw this through to the end and their best is absolutely enough. In April, I decided to submit a design for @publicartsmidland piano project in Midland. I was super excited but really nervous when my design was selected. I don’t show my #wip often — but we are all a work in progress. Sometimes you need to see the sweat, tears and paint splatters. I don’t fully know what I’m envisioning yet. Earlier this year, when I heard about @publicartsmidland Painted Piano Project I thought, “Oh! I have to submit a design for that!” When COVID-19 cancelled in person school for the rest of the year I thought, “Oh, I guess I won’t have time to do that...” Then, COVID-19 delayed the project deadlines and I thought, “Oh! If we do a less complex design maybe all three of us could paint as a team!” We were pretty excited to have our design selected. Yesterday, we went and got started! Working with a six and nine year old on a project like this will be a challenge at times, and it already has been!
