  Have you heard? Union Station’s beautiful piano is open again for public playing! To kick things off, all this week #MetroArtPresents will feature an impressive slate of LA-based pianists in a variety of styles premiering daily at 7 p.m., across Metro, Metro Art and Union Station online platforms. The pop-up performances were filmed live in the Union Station waiting room in June as the station was once again filled with live music for passersby to enjoy. Watch this teaser for a preview of the filmed performances in store this week— along with a shout out from LA Metro’s new CEO Stephanie Wiggins… who happens to be a music lover, too! Thanks to the five pianists who came through to join us, and of course, to all who’ve graced the Union Station keys over the years spontaneously! The piano is open daily to all, first-come, first-served, up to 20 minutes per player. We hope this gets you inspired!   Sometimes LA is a fairly lonely, mean, and dirty place. Then you walk around union station and find a small boy ripping shit up on a public piano. Im not sure if the guy dancing was homeless.   The Player at Union Station #35mm #filmisnotdead I heard this passionate piano player doing his thing in the large arrival hall of the station (back in 2016) riding on one of the most amazing routes of railway travel there is: the Pacific Surfliner. This gorgeous piece of train rides along the side of the ocean. It passes cliffs, hills and beaches on the most western part of California. So your window is like a postcard movie screen from which you can see the surfers in the waves and beach goers in the sand going from San Diego to LA.
