  This was the 3rd of the 6 pianos in Paris train stations that I played. This was in Gare d’Austerlitz and featured an upright piano in an especially resonant space. When I showed up, someone was playing parts of Chopin’s 1st Ballade (see the photos) and I was struck by how loud the piano sounded. In this clip, I’m playing my own arrangement of 周傑倫 / Jay Chou’s piece 青花瓷 / Qing Hua Ci / Blue and White Porcelain. Near the beginning of the clip, the left hand is playing mainly 8th note triplets while the right hand is playing mainly straight 8th notes. I really liked the way the piece sounded in that space. After playing this and other pieces, I met a woman (not pictured) who had really enjoyed my playing and took a great interest in me as an artist. She asked me all sorts of questions like “What is the best way to memorize a piece?” and “How long does it take you to learn a piece?” We had a really nice chat.
