Performing Chopin Étude Op. 10 No. 1 at Hudson Yards a few days ago at a different piano. Had to compete with Feliz Navidad :) Watch until the end to see a man sanitize his hands! I am in super-intensive practice mode as we near the end of the year. I’m averaging over 7 hours a day, which hasn’t happened in a long time because of teaching. Two days ago, I completed at least 4-measure sets (4 measures of music plus the vertical/chord that falls on the falling beat) or their rough equivalent through all the newest Chopin Études and through some older ones that needed reviving. But now I’m just trying to push myself to learn and memorize the remaining music as best I can. I had never set a requirement to either perform or upload videos of all of the pieces - the learning/memorization of the complete Études is purely for myself and was expected from the beginning to be of very rough quality once the project was completed. But I still want to try the best I can with my remaining time! This is part of my challenge to myself to finish learning and memorizing the complete Chopin Études (all 27) in six months (July through December of 2020). I started from having performed 5 before and had 7 more in various stages of technical solidity.
