This is how I record my piano. And it sounds rather lovely! I think the @pianobook01 community / @christianhensonmusic have coined this mic technique 'The Barlow', as recommended by @officialgarybarlow -- but I augment it with a cheeky extra mic down below too. After it's next tuning, I'm determined to finally make a pianobook sample instrument with a choice of mics and some of my sexy FX... . The mics of choice are all from the lovely folks at @sontronics - an Aria valve mic in the centre - a stereo pair of STC-1s with Omni capsules - a DM1b (weird, I know, but it's a lovely LDC, so why not?!) down below to blend in for some subtle extra weight and resonance .
