I'm sure everyone is knows the difference between upright and grand piano, but how about a square piano? This piano was built by Steinway and Sons in 1869, during a time where Steinway built more square pianos than uprights and grands and when their famous patents and claims to early fame were because of their square pianos. The case is made of beautifully carved Brazilian Rosewood and is of the Rococo Victorian style. The instrument is elegantly carved and has a massive, handsome appearance. I still remember that there was a square piano in my primary school music room but it wasn't half as beautiful as this.
