Early this morning, my wife and I took a train from London to Paris from St Pancras International. After running randomly into a street piano yesterday, I did look up if we might run into others and was delighted to find that there are coincidentally two pianos at St Pancras. Here, I’m playing most of Chopin’s Ocean Étude at the first of the two. I honestly don’t seem to be able to avoid my connection to pianos even after my solo recital just finished 🙂 By the way, here’s a secret to playing virtuosic études more successfully for those who are interested: Perform them everywhere. At any time, on any piano, under any conditions. No warming up, no excuses. Physically and psychologically, you become much better able to adapt to any situation! English text is below. :) Вот такая необычная для меня, но,судя по реакции окружающих, весьма привычная история встретилась мне вчера на лондонском вокзале Сент-Панкрас. За фортепиано, установленном в центре зала ожидания, как раз куда выходят пассажиры, прибывшие из Брюсселя и Парижа, очень проникновенно и здорово играет мужчина в спецовке, в которой, как правило, ходят местные служащие вокзала. Играет совершенно замечательно, при этом не вызывая никакого бурного интереса у публики. Конечно, я была поражена. (Не встречались мне доселе работники РЖД, вдохновенно играющие на рояле, где-нибудь на Курском). Не менее сильно меня поразило отсутствие заинтересованности среди лондонцев. И конечно же я постаралась разобраться в чем тут дело. Оказывается, это проект англичанина Люка Джаррама - Play me, I’m Yours! (Сыграй, я твой!), существующий с 2008 года. В рамках проекта он устанавливает пианино в разных городах в общественных местах — в парках, на остановках, на вокзалах и даже на мостах. Соответственно, любой желающий может им воспользоваться. Сейчас таких пианино установлено порядка 1300 в 45 странах мира. Есть даже специальный сайт, где можно посмотреть прямые трансляции игры на инструментах: http://www.streetpianos.com/ Вообще Сент-Панкрасу в данном случае весьма повезло, за установленное фортепиано садились музыканты различных известных групп, классические пианисты. В прошлом году здесь играл сэр Элтон Джон. До сих пор для меня загадка,кто был вчерашний музыкант -одаренный работник вокзала или известный джазовый пианист.
