Just got back from our Europe trip! We really had an amazing time. Both my wife’s birthday celebration and my recital were super successful and we saw many beautiful things. Looking forward to resting a bit tomorrow morning before starting to teach again in the afternoon. Continuing the story of my European piano encounters- I had just played the two pianos at St Pancras International in London and @buddhistmango and I had to rush to catch the Eurostar train to Paris. After going through security and waiting for a while, we were about to board the train when an elderly gentleman asked me if I had been playing the piano shortly beforehand. He thanked me for making his day and for cheering him up. After the over 2 hour train ride, we had just gotten off the train when a woman stopped me and to my surprise, asked me “Were you playing the piano at St Pancras?” I said yes and she also told me that I played beautifully and that it meant a lot to her. I had heard that there were pianos at train stations in Paris as well, and indeed, we encountered one at Gare du Nord immediately after getting off the train! Here are some clips from Godowsky’s arrangements of both Chopin’s Ocean and Revolutionary Études - both for left hand alone. The final memory in this travel. 16 September,2019 In the morning of my trip's final day, suddenly ,my Chinese friend sent me message. She came to Paris for business by chance.We came to meet and eat breakfast together in the station. We met in the cafe since 2017(She and her sister went on a trip to Tokyo). After we finished eating, we walked in the station. I needed to go to the airport. That time, we looked at the piano in the station. Some man was playing the piano. She said to me" I know you play the piano. I want to listen to your playing". I hesitated it, because my playing the piano was not good. And many people were there. Indeed, I wanted to play a little. But it was hard for me. She said again"please, play". She pushed my back. Two years ago, I watched the piano's video on Youtube. In it, some person played "Una Mattina" beautifully. The location was the station in Paris. I had watched the video again and again, I had practiced it. And this time, I played the same music in Paris, for short times. I felt wonderful. I appreciated for my friend in my mind. And I left from here to the airport.
