Piano still there but covered and locked: Not playable. Dear CLT Airport please unlock the piano to the public!

Piano is still there but public are not allowed to play. Only people with a badge/authorized staff are allowed to play. Guy who does play it his name is Michael, super chill guy but is under the hold of higher ups/bosses to not let others play, even though he’d be happy with letting experienced pianists play.

This piano being locked up is a real disappointment to the airport. I am a professional musician on a long layover and was hoping to get some practice in and lighten the mood in this bleak airport. The staff was incredibly rude, and the piano is supposedly only played once a day. This is a used Yamaha worth a couple thousand dollars, in an airport where the public uses things worth millions. Saying it would be damaged is ridiculous not to mention if someone professional asks nicely. The company running this thing is foolish. Just disappointing

very frustrating. 7 hour layover and piano is locked. This place is a sh**hole, probably locked up because you know who (Ns) damaged it. Thanks Obama

Only volunteer workers allowed to play

―I would like to play the piano at ... Is there a sign up sheet? ( 2 years ago )
Maybe the piano is available during some hours, but after tipping the gentleman playing the piano I asked if he wanted to play some 4-hands (jazz standards) and he said I wasn’t allowed to play, even though I am a piano professor lol. I hope others have better luck :) Would have been a fun way to get through the long layover

How can a gifted classical pianst be allowed to play piano at airport?
―Kathy ( 2 years ago )
It is really disappointing this piano is not allowed to the public. It has a lock and the staff on site informed that the public will not be allowed to play it.

Designated pianist on staff told me that first piano was abused by the public. The replacement is locked when not being played by staff.

Under lock and key Asked around ever one said not public piano

It’s still in the main atrium so you’d probably get an audience if you’re good but still there and begging to be played!
