THE PIANO THAT STARTED IT ALL- 8 years ago, after an pinterest inspiration, our organization decided to place a piano outside of Lucky Slice and paint it live. After completing it, we decided to leave it there to see what happens and the project became one of the most valued and anticipated art projects in our community. We have had a bunch of people ask about whether or not the NCM street piano project will still be happening this year? As long as we are not in self isolation the answer is yes. Thankfully our organization’s Director had the foresight to begin saving and storing pianos a couple years ago. Typically the pianos would be repainted each year. That may not be possible this year, but we do plan to have pianos out. Layton Hills Mall actually rolled out the carpet for one of our street pianos. In an effort to bring awareness to our organization, the street piano project and the arts we are partnering with the mall for a period of time this summer. They will be scheduling musicians to play periodically throughout the month of July.
