Photos by: @pianist_without_borders About the Piano: The inspiration behind my piano design is New York City itself. The design is an abstracted city wall, layered in graffiti. Memories from my 35+ years in NYC underly the project and my sense is that most New Yorkers can easily connect with the design. It represents to me not only the beauty of street art, so very relevant to the development of creative expression and freedom in NYC, but also encompasses the energy, vibrancy, and diversity that has always been such a big part of the city. The many layers of the surface mirror the unending possibilities that continue to draw people to NYC. My hope is that as people scan the surface for words, symbols and details, they find a bit of themselves buried within. About the Artist: I am a mixed media artist, instructor, designer and author from NYC. My artwork has been shown in multiple exhibitions, most recently at The Other Art Fair in Brooklyn in November 2018. My work and words can be found in numerous artist books and national magazines. I have published 2 books of my own – The Pulse of Mixed Media and The Mixed Media Artist – along with 8 workshop DVDs/videos with North Light Media. I am an instructor at Pratt Institute in NYC and my workshops have been held throughout the USA, Canada, the UK, Mexico, and Australia.
