Perhaps this corner of our home is a bit cluttered and busy, but it is one of my favorites. While I spend much of my time helping sellers wanting to list their home put a plan in place to pull loud colors off the walls, clear off surfaces, and pack away a lot of the items and art that express the seller's personal taste, I tend to do the opposite in my own home. I know I'd have to empty it of lots of the work and personality I've tried to put into if we ever went to sell, but while I'm here, I love to create a world of color and art and history that inspires me. Every bit of this space has meaning to me. I spent much of my childhood and teen years studying and then teaching piano, so to have a tuned piano ready to play has become a touchpoint to a world outside of phone calls, appointments, marketing, and negotiating contracts. Playing piano pulls me out of the needs of the immediate world around me, even if for a few minutes. And, it turns out a few of the boys are good at it and you can hear one of the teenagers playing one of their favorite songs by ear from time to time. Also, an open piano is an invitation to play to any guests who come over - when we have gotten to discover that many people we knew played music and we wouldn't have known otherwise. :) Rest of caption in the comments 👇🏼.
