Have you ever made a decision in your life that didn’t go as planned, and you feel like a total failure when you have to go back on the plan? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today is one of those days for me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A year and a half ago, we made the decision to pull our boys out of public school and homeschool them. I had these beautiful, organic visions in my head about what our homeschool days would look like. Similar to mine, growing up. Filled with cozy read-aloud books on the couch, adventurous hikes in the woods and exciting field trips jam-packed with curiosity and learning. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If I’m being really honest, those days were rare. But we still loved homeschooling. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Until this past October, when I got sick. Weird things were happening with my health and my body was boycotting my lifestyle choices that put me last on our family totem. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After weeks of denial and a couple temper tantrums (me, not the kids), we have enrolled the boys in our local, small town public school. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ They start tomorrow. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I can only compare this feeling to when you mourn the death of someone. I feel like I’m saying goodbye to a loved one. And yet, we have hope. And excitement about this new chapter. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Nothing is permanent. Change is OK. And �iling” doesn’t necessarily have to be a negative thing. Maybe your heart is telling you to take the leap today. To find your new, beautiful journey. To listen to your body when it tells you that your health and your joy must come first. Whatever it may be...I say go for it! Be brave. Say yes. You can do this..
